Shaping
Shaping Concept prototype
Daily practice · Spaced review

Start with an easy question.
End exam‑ready.

Shaping takes its name from the behavior-analytic term: reinforcing small approximations until they build into the target behavior. This program applies that same logic to studying — questions begin at simple recall and climb to full exam-level scenarios as your daily streak grows.

Shaping is an independent study companion for the BCBA exam. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Content on this page is original, organized only around the BACB's publicly published domain categories.

Your plan, then today's session

Three quick questions, a personalized plan page, then straight into practice — three short steps, one at a time.

Step 1 of 3 · Intake

A few questions first.

This builds the plan you'd actually see on day one — takes about 15 seconds.

A 90-day curriculum, weighted like the real exam

Each of the nine BCBA Test Content Outline domains gets a share of study days proportional to its share of the actual exam — so Behavior-Change Procedures gets more daily attention than, say, Philosophical Foundations, instead of every domain being treated equally.

The shaping curve

Every concept starts at Tier 1 the day it's introduced — even on day 85. It's re-tested on a spaced schedule, and each time it resurfaces it climbs a tier, until it reaches full exam difficulty well before test day.

Day 0 23 45 68 90 Tier 1 · Recall Tier 2 · Identify Tier 3 · Apply first seen mock exam Day 12 +3 +7 +14 +30

Tier 1 — Recall

Direct definition or matching. First exposure to any term, no matter when it's introduced.

Tier 2 — Identify

A short one-step scenario. Reached on the +3 and +7 day spaced reviews.

Tier 3 — Apply

Multi-step, exam-level reasoning. Reached by the +14/+30 day reviews and held through the closing mock exam.

Spaced-repetition term nudges
